Canyon Lake is not only beautiful, but it is also ideally located about halfway between San Antonio and Austin. The growing city of New Braunfels is only 14 miles southeast.
Sports lovers love Canyon Lake for its abundance of opportunities for outdoor recreation. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages eight public parks on the Canyon Lake shoreline. Sailing, tubing, scuba diving, canoeing, and water skiing are all popular. From our experience as Canyon Lake home builders, we find that the folks who build custom houses here love the water. It’s the perfect place to own a boat and head out to the water on a whim.
The neighboring lake bearing the same name as Canyon Creek is one of the deepest in Texas. With an average depth of 43 feet, the lake is ideal for fishing. Largemouth bass, catfish, and white and striped bass are plentiful. Several record fish have even been caught at Canyon Lake.
Canyon Lake is rich with wildlife on land, as well. With a custom home in the area, you will likely spot white-tailed deer, foxes, roadrunners, and other native animals.
As a resident, you may want to join the Lake Canyon Yacht Club, which supports an active racing program. It also has a pool, clubhouse, and boat rigging tower for members. If golf is your sport, you will love Canyon Lake Golf Club. This 72-par golf course is known to challenge even avid golfers.
