San Antonio Named Best Large U.S. City to Work From Home

February 25, 2021

Last year, millions of people made the shift from working full time in an office to working remotely—and while many have returned in or are acclimating to a hybrid model, the percentage of employees who will work from home permanently is on the rise. Some newly remote workers will keep living near their original office locations, while others will take advantage of the opportunity to live just about anywhere in the country. With the flexibility to conduct meetings, complete tasks and brainstorm over the phone or video conferencing tools, working professionals are moving to new areas. Some are looking for a lower cost of living, a slower pace of life, being closer to family or hometowns—or simply a change of scenery.

InMyArea.com, a resource for consumers to find the best value on localized home services, recently released: Best U.S. Cities for Working From Home: The Best Small, Medium and Large Cities in All 50 States. They analyzed over 800 communities across the country to find out which cities give remote workers the best balance of affordability and access to quality, high-speed internet. San Antonio, the home base of Weston Dean Custom Homes, was named the Best Big City in the United States for remote workers. If you’re a professional with the ability to work from anywhere, we encourage you to consider the San Antonio area. If you’re already sold on our city, check out a few reasons why remote employees love living in a Weston Dean home.

Home offices included in the floor plans

We understand the importance of having a designated space for your work, especially when people are spending more time at home than ever. That’s why many of our existing floor plans have home offices (or dens, or studies—whatever you prefer to call it) already included in our layouts. But just because you have a home office, doesn’t mean you’re sacrificing on space. Our spacious and functional floor plans offer all of the bedrooms, outdoor space and open living areas you could want in your San Antonio area home.

Flex rooms for multiple remote workers and learners

Many families have more than one adult working from home, and maybe even a few kids attending school virtually. To avoid fighting over the best lighting for video conferencing or interrupting someone’s important call, flex rooms provide the perfect opportunity to house multiple family members who need their own space to focus, work and learn. It’s easy to turn a spare bedroom, game room or loft area into a working space—whether it’s a temporary or permanent need.

Design your own dream den

If you’ve always dreamed of a den with unique features and advanced technology, Weston Dean Custom Homes is the ideal builder to work with. Need a library with ceiling-height shelves to store books and important documents? Want a chic and modern space, free of clutter and distractions? Looking for a home office that would eventually be suitable for in-person client meetings? No dream is too far-fetched for our team. Whether you want to personalize one of our existing plans or come up with something completely custom, we’re excited to make your new home office something you’re proud to show off over Zoom.
