Millennials moving to the suburbs

Millennials moving to the suburbs

If you are currently looking for a New Braunfels custom builder to build your new home, you most likely are one of many currently looking for a new home for the New Year. What you may or may not have noticed is that if you are looking in the suburbs, you are most likely also looking with a lot of millennials. Believe it or not, the National Association of Realtors’ Home Buyer and Seller Generation Trends report recently released an article that said people who are 35 years of age and younger make up the largest group of homebuyers in the market today, and 67% of those buyers are first-time homebuyers. Weston Dean Custom Home breaks down the millennial trend this buying season.

What is even more interesting is that while people might think that millennials have no interest in homeownership and have no interest in buying a home in the suburbs. However, this is not the case. Millennials continue to make up the largest share of homebuyers in annual surveys conducted by the National Association of Realtors and the past few years have been no different.

As millennials age, they have become more traditional in their buying habits. This means, you can find them choosing homes in the suburbs rather than city living like many might think. Zillow recently published a study that showed what millenials are looking for in homes. What they found is they aren’t as interested in having the largest home on the block, however they want to have a nice home, in a nice area around good schools that is a functional home for their future or growing family. This includes living primarily in suburbs around the nation.

So whether you are a millennial looking for a home or you are a buyer looking amongst them, Weston Dean Custom Homes helps fit the right type of home for the buyer, not matter what stage of life you happen to be in.

Things to consider before meeting with your builder

Categories: Boerne Custom Homes Builders | Posted: November 1, 2019

If you are currently considering finding a Boerne custom builder to build your dream custom home, this will be the start of many decisions.  You will have many floor plan options available to you to pick from and you need to choose the right plan with careful consideration. You want to list all of your families needs and look for one that will fit your family’s lifestyle.  Weston Dean Custom Homes shares some questions you may want to ask yourself while deciding on what you want in your home.

One way to narrow down some of your floor plan options and selections is to decide what style of home you want.  Is it important to you to have the bedrooms on a second level away from the active part of the home?  If you decide on a two-story home, do you want the master bedroom to be located on the first story or upstairs with the rest of the family?  It is important to decide on how many levels best suits your family.

How much room do you need?  Do you have a large family or will you have lots of guest throughout the year?  This will help you decide how much square footage you will really need to accommodate your lifestyle.  Will you need an extra room for visiting guests or a home office?

Where does your family spend most of its time?  Is the kitchen the hub of the home, sharing meals or is the family room where you all come together to watch movies or play games?  You will need to decide if an open floor plan, where one room flows into another room and allows for easy access to each room, is right for you or do you want a home that has more defined rooms.  Do you want a separated office, game room or study?

One last thing you may want to consider is do you ever plan on moving again or is your home where you plan on staying to raise your family and growing old?  This will help you decide on how much space you need as your family grows and changes.  Remember, Weston Dean Custom Homes is here to help with your new home purchase and design you the best floor plan that will suit your family’s needs today and in the future.
