Living in New Braunfels

March 4, 2020

Looking for a lively city with a small-town feel? New Braunfels could be the perfect place for your new custom home. Weston Dean Custom Homes builds new homes in quiet, friendly communities in and around New Braunfels, TX.

What is New Braunfels known for?

New Braunfels is located in Comal Country and was founded by German settlers in 1845, and German culture is still prevalent in the city today. You’ll see German traditions in the food, the beer, and the annual Wurstfest celebration.

For much of its history, New Braunfels has been known as a small town. In the next few years, however, the population will be approaching 100,000. Even with all the growth over the years, New Braunfels has an abundance of open space, quiet neighborhoods, and Hill Country scenery to enjoy.

What to do in Downtown New Braunfels

One of the best things you can do downtown is eat. Local restaurants provide unique ways to take in the culture of New Braunfels. Bars and saloons downtown let residents unwind together, enjoying craft beer and live music.

Family fun is easy to find in New Braunfels, like at McKenna’s Children Museum, the enormous Schlitterbahn Waterpark, or the Natural Bridge underground caverns. The Comal and the Guadalupe rivers run through New Braunfels and are an essential part of the scenery. Spending a lazy day floating down the river on a tubing trip is a classic pastime in New Braunfels. It’s a fitting activity for a friendly, easy-going town.
