To RSVP to our next FREE Build On Your Lot Quarterly Seminar
At Weston Dean Custom Homes, we love being able to work with our homeowners to create the home of their dreams. Our incredible team of professionals is always ready to help guide you through the homebuying process—and the first few steps we want to walk you through are our design services.
In the first phase, we’ll meet you at the property to learn a little bit more about why this was the particular lot you chose to build your new construction custom home. This meeting is crucial to figure out where you envision your home to be placed on the lot, and this is the question we want to answer at the end of the day. Do you want certain rooms in your home to face either the sunrise or sunset? This is the meeting where all of that will be finalized by you and our team of experts. We’ll offer any suggestions as we see fit based on cost factors such as topography, flatwork distance and drainage patterns, and if you have the lot survey document available, it would be helpful to bring this along as well.
During the vision and concept meeting, we’ll talk about the big picture of the home. This is the time when we want to hear all about your design ideas and we’ll work with you to come up with the ideal home vision and turn it into a reality. Before coming to the meeting, it’s always a great idea to bring along any images you have to help us see the direction you’d like to take within each room of the home—and we’ll also take you through a design questionnaire to really finalize a plan. During this meeting, we’ll also discuss the budget for the home in order to ensure we are staying on track throughout the entire project.
In this phase, our team will begin drafting your custom floor plan from scratch—or modifying one of our own floor plans to your specifications if you decided that you wanted to build off of one of those instead. If your heart is set on one of our own floor plan designs, it’s always a good idea to tour a few of our model homes to get a better idea of what you like and what you would like to change.
During the design process, we’ll meet with you to go over our sketches until we settle on the perfect floor plan design to go off of. We’ll make any adjustments as we need to in order to come up with your exact vision.
With the floor plan finalized, the next step is to figure out what sort of features and finishes you would like in your home. Our award-winning interior design team will take you through all of our showrooms to choose your countertops, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, appliances, flooring, wall tiles, light fixtures and more.
Throughout our many years in the construction industry, we have developed an industry-leading cost calculation tool that functions as part of your contract. In the cost proposal phase, we’ll list out every aspect of your home so you can see exactly where your costs are coming from.
As soon as the contracts are signed, we begin pouring the foundation within 2 to 3 months—as long as there are no delays in weather, securing the construction financing and HOA approval to get started. Once construction begins on your home and the foundation is poured, you will receive the keys within 7 to 9 months. Throughout that time, we will continue to work with you every step of the way to ensure that the home you move into is exactly how you always dreamed it would be.
