Have you ever stopped to think, what draws people to certain things? Why do they pick a certain outfit, picture, or home for that matter? Does color play a role in any of these decisions? If you look at the psychology behind color, it will help you understand the reason behind some of the choices that you make. Weston Dean Custom Homes, a
Boerne Custom Home Builder, shares a deeper insight to consider when picking out colors for your new home.
If you looked online at the
Weston Dean floor plans available, did you feel drawn to any one model? Now look at the color of the clothes that you are wearing, or the color of car that you are driving. Do you see any similarities? There is a lot of validity to the psychological effects created by the colors used in a room. Some personality descriptions are based on color preferences. It might be fun to consider some of the colors below and if it’s your color of choice, what it might say about you.
Red: You are outspoken, intense and want to be part of the action. In a crowd you are dynamic and noticeable. This color is a good choice for a dining room or kitchen since it can stimulate the appetite. Not a good choice for a bedroom (especially a child’s room) since it is a color that stimulates.
Yellow: You are intellectual and drawn toward the new and modern. High spirited, cheerful, and idealistic best describes your personality. You live by high standards and give sound advice. This is another good color for a kitchen, dining room, or living room. If you are selling a house, it is the color that is said to sell the best.
Blue: If are drawn to blue, you are cautious, conservative and sensitive to the needs of others. You are loyal and trustworthy friend. Blue is the color you want to choose for bedrooms. It is a soothing, relaxing color that promotes rest.
Brown: If you like brown, you are likely to be seen as stable and unchanging. You are warm, comfortable, and accepting. This is a great color for floors, tile or things that can’t be changed easily.
Black: This color means you are sophisticated, mysterious, and dramatic. By adding a little black to a room you can add interest. It doesn’t hurt to have this color somewhere in a room.
White: If you like white, you expect to be happy most of the time. Your personality is light, good, and pure. Here is a color that can be great for cabinets or trim, but if you use too much, it can become lifeless. If your home is all white and you don’t add color in the room it will always feel cold or that something is missing. People do not feel warm and comfortable in an all white room.
Hopefully this helps as you make your choices for your new Weston Dean Home. It might shed light on why you are drawn to something and not another. When we surround ourselves with colors that we enjoy, we are more likely to feel comfortable in that space.
