You know you need to do it, but you dread the big cabinet and closet cleanout. May we suggest an easy way to lighten the load before you move into your new Weston Dean home
The Shoe Purge:
Have each family member take out all their shoes and place any shoes they don’t like, that don’t fit or that you haven’t worn in a year into a box marked donate. Find a location that accepts donations for shoes in your area.
Have your kids choose five toys they love and five they would be happy to give to a child less fortunate. Donate any toys that are rarely played with, more than likely those toys will not be missed after you move into your new Weston Dean home. The toys that are kept, group together into labeled bins to restrict volume and help keep the toys put away after you move into your new home.
Start by checking the dates and get rid of anything that has long ago expired. If you can’t remember when you bought it, it is probably time to throw it away. Anything you don’t regularly use or have immediate plans to use is in danger of being wasted. Group like foods together. Assign each a category- canned beans, pasta, or snacks and give its own section of a shelf and keep only what fits in the allotted space in your new Weston Dean pantry.
This is where you want to be honest with yourself. If you haven’t worn it for an entire season, the chances that you will wear it again are slim. Also, if it doesn’t fit you, let it go. As you purge your closet, start to group like items together, group dresses together, blazers together and shirts together, etc. You can also go as far in your groupings as to put the items together by colors. This will enable you to see at a glance how many white shirts you have or black skirts. You will be able to find what you need when you are looking for it.
By organizing your things now, you will be ready when it is time to move and you won’t be paying to move things you no longer need into your new Weston Dean home.
