Building A Custom Home: Part 1

Categories: Custom Home Design, Home Buyer News, Weston Dean News | Posted: January 4, 2019

For many who want to build a custom home, knowing where to start is often the most puzzling piece. Weston Dean Custom Homes, a premier New Beaunfels custom builder, offers a unique custom design and construction experience for our clients that take the guesswork and stress out of the custom building experience. We believe that building your dream home should be a positive and rewarding experience, so we’ve developed three simple phases to give you the most stress-free service as we construct your new home. Below is part one in your road ahead!

 Phase 1: Design Services

Vision Meeting: During the first phase of your custom home building experience with us, you will meet with our project manager to discuss your project. This meeting will be detail-oriented and we’ll be able to address everything from your needs, wants, and budget.

Lot Meeting: This is where you will meet with our team together at the lot to determine all factors of where your home will be placed, laid out, views, and all cost factors will be determined.

Begin Design Process: After the two initial meetings have taken place, we’ll begin drafting a custom floor plan for you, or modify a plan we have already built that we can customize further to fit your vision.

Site Evaluation & Refine Design Concepts: This is where the drafted floor plan of your home and the site evaluation will take place on your lot. You’ll be given an accurate cost proposal at this stage.

Cost Proposal: After many years in construction, we’ve developed a system that is an industry leading cost calculation tool that will also function as a part of your contract.

Design Revisions Based on Cost Proposal: This is where we take your budget and wish list for your home and come to an agreement to where you get what you want for the price you’re willing to spend.

Contact and Final Plans: This is the most exciting part for us at Weston Dean Homes, because within 6-8 months we will take your vision and plans we’ve created together, and provide to you the home of your dreams!

Why Build a Custom Home?

Categories: Custom Home Design, San Antonio Custom Homes | Posted: December 26, 2018

ConstructionTestimonialThere are so many options when it comes to housing.  People can rent an apartment, town home, duplex, or single family home.  Some families might consider buying a resale house.  Other homebuyers ask themselves, “Should I buy a new home?”  There’s another option: owning your very own custom home.  Many people skip over this last option because they believe it’s either too expensive, too much work, or some other bit of reasoning.  But Weston Dean Custom Homes, a premier New Braunfels custom builder, assures you that not only can it be affordable, it’s a wonderful investment for you and your family for years, even generations.

So… Why build a custom home?

You get what you want
Many times home buyers have to settle for the “best possible” option rather than the “perfect for me” one.  Sometimes a home is just a little too small, or not quite in the location you had hoped for.  Perhaps another buyer swept in on a home and made an offer before you could.  With a custom home, you have control over the entire process from your choice of builder, home site location, budget, floor plan, features and amenities within the home, and much more.  Production builders frequently have their personal “style” of floor plan and a limited number of options, too.  Custom builders look at every new home as an opportunity to reflect the desires and personality of the home buyer, creatively using architectural means to craft a home to be as aesthetic as it is practical and functional for every day use.  Rest assured that your home isn’t just another “project” for us at Weston Dean.  We take it as seriously as you do.

Location, location, location
As we mentioned before, when renting or even buying a new or pre-owned home, it’s very likely that you’ll be limited on some level.  Either you’ll be able to get the view you’ve always dreamt of, or you’ll reside within 1 mile of high quality education for your children.  When you build a custom home, you search for the perfect lot, home site, or piece of land upon which to build.  You no longer have to settle for “good enough.”  Weston Dean builds in custom home communities all over the San Antonio area; we’re not limited to just one.

For instance, take a look at 1829 Bardolino, a home that could very well be where you and your family call home! This home is in the highly sought after Vintage Oaks neighborhood.  Residents of this neighborhood enjoy amenities including the famous Schlitterbahn Water Park, sailing on Canyon Lake, numerous area golf courses, the unique charm of historical Gruene, and the Tanger Outlet Center in San Marcos—the third-largest tourist destination in Texas and noted as one of the top shopping stops in the country. Even closer to home is the Dry Comal Creek Vineyard, located just adjacent to Vintage Oaks.
