homebuilding process with Weston Dean

When you choose Weston Dean, a premier New Braunfels custom builder, as your builder of choice for your dream home, you’re signing up for not only a great home but a great homebuilding experience. Read on to learn about our unique process for delivering you an amazing home in San Antonio.

There are 3 major phases of the design-build process with Weston Dean. First, we help guide you through the design portion. The second phase consists of construction, and the final stage involves putting you in your new home and backing it with a guarantee. We’ll cover each of the 3 stages briefly throughout this post, but you can refer to our Design Build Process page for extra details!

First, the design portion of the process. We’ll schedule a design & lot meeting to discuss your homesite and home design options, then get to work on drawing up a custom floor plan from scratch, modifying an existing floor plan, or perfecting one of our impressive floor plan options. You’ll have the opportunity to fine-tune any details before we move forward, determine cost, and hammer out a final contract and plans for you to daydream about.

Next, construction services will begin. We’ll help you work with your bank to obtain a construction interim loan and determine a plan that best suits you. Once your loan is closed, your lot will be prepped for groundbreaking and for the foundation to go in. You’ll get to work with our top-notch design team during this stage and start choosing design elements to be used throughout your home. Whether your preference is country comfort, Parisian chic, a striking modern look, or anything else, we like to say “your imagination and your pocketbook are your only limits here!”

You’ll have multiple meetings with the contractors and will be able to view your home’s progress through our innovative online Client Communication program. Of course, you’ll be able to reach out to us whenever you have questions or concerns–we’re here for you! Our third-party inspections will guarantee that your home is soundly built, and we invite our clients to hire their own third-party inspectors for yet another perspective. One week before closing you’ll have a walk-through to check for any final touch-ups or fixes to be made before you move in to your new San Antonio home.

Once you sign off during the walk-through, the final changes are made and you’ll get to move into your dream house! Weston Dean works hard to protect their customers from any damages or fixes, so we have partnered with ProHome for a 24/7 warranty management program. You will be taken care of with our 1 Year Craftsman Warranty, 2 Year Systems Warranty, and 10 Year BB Major Structural Warranty trio.

When the paperwork is complete and you’re all moved in, you’ll get to enjoy your brand new Weston Dean home! We are dedicated to providing homes our customers love, so if you’re building new in San Antonio, choose Weston Dean.

Maintenance Tips to Keep Your House Pristine

Categories: Homeowner Tips | Posted: April 19, 2019

We know you San Antonio homeowners love your Weston Dean home, but the truth is that time is a home’s worst enemy. Though your home is built to withstand the test of time, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your house looking like the day you bought it.

First, there are several routine maintenance measures you should consider on a yearly or as-needed basis. Test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors at least every six months and replace any dead batteries immediately. Have your fireplace cleaned and replace your furnace filters yearly. Have your air conditioning unit inspected annually as well.

Checking on each of these items and testing appliances will help you avoid costly, unexpected repairs that are easily avoidable with routine maintenance.

Your floors are a great place to start protecting your home. Buff out any scratches and wax the wood floors to keep everything looking bright, shiny, and new. Tile and linoleum will benefit from a good scrubbing to prevent excess grime from building up over time and dulling down a room. Treat stains immediately and have the carpets professionally cleaned every so often.

Check your washer and dryer, fridge, and oven for leaky hoses, dirty filters that need replacing, and any other general maintenance they require. Having clean filters and working hoses not only means things will work correctly, but that you’ll be safe from fire and other hazards.

Clean and repair any broken window screens so you can enjoy some fresh air year-round. While you’re examining the windows and doors for broken screens, keep some WD-40 on hand to tackle any creaky hinges and check for any lining that needs to be re-caulked.

There are plenty of ways to keep your Weston Dean home fresh outdoors, too. Clean the gutters each fall and spring to ensure drainage can occur as it was designed to. Keep your landscaping neat by developing a green thumb or consider hiring a neighborhood kid or professional services to cut your lawn. Trim back overgrown hedges and trees and always make sure your mailbox, house number, and public street signs are visible from the road and your driveway.

Rent a power washer for a day and go to town on your siding; make sure to follow all safety precautions and only use the washer for its intended use to avoid injury or harm to your property. If after the power wash your siding seems a little uninspired, consider repainting your home. A new coat of paint should only be necessary every 6-8 years, thanks to San Antonio’s mild climate.

If you follow these easy home maintenance tips, your Weston Dean house will look brand new for years to come!
