Healthy Habits for the New Year

December 20, 2019

A Healthy 2016 A Healthy 2020 As we enter the end of 2019 and the holiday season, many of us are thinking about the New Year and maybe some things we want to change as the new year approaches. If your goal is to be healthier in 2020, Weston Dean Custom Homes, a premier New Braunfels custom builder, gives tips to help you create healthy habits for the New Year that you’ll actually be able to stick with this time around! Love the food you eat! The best way to do this is to be mindful of the food you eat. If you enjoy each delicious taste, it will make it easier to stick to a sensible eating plan. For the foods you love, look for ways to make them better for you. If you love pizza, try substituting a lower-calorie crust and choose toppings that help counteract the added fat and calories. Be sure not to skip meals. Some people think skipping breakfast will help them cut calories for the day, but more times than not this actually backfires. Most of the time skipping breakfast leads to being hungrier as the day goes on and you end up overeating or eating unhealthy snacks to make up for not eating in the morning. Starting off your day with a well-rounded breakfast to fuel your body. Eat smaller portions. When you feel the need to indulge, do so, but in moderation. A clever way to keep your portions small is to use a teaspoon and not a serving spoon to dish out servings.Get your fill in healthy ways. Overeating most of the time comes down to one basic cause: hunger. Becoming more conscious of how you answer your hunger will help you stay on the right track. Drinking water before and during events will help fill you up so you are less hungry and won't consume excess calories. Snacking throughout the day can also help keep hunger at bay. Several small healthy snacks can help you feeling full and not get to the point of over-hungry. Get your fill in healthy ways. Overeating most of the time comes down to one basic cause: hunger.
